Automotive Technician

Job Summary
Diagnose vehicle service problems and make necessary repairs and adjustments in a professional, quality manner as instructed by the Lead Service Technician with a focus on reconditioning used vehicles.
Essential Functions
Ensure current knowledge of latest technical data and service procedures.
Maintain basic tools necessary to complete assigned jobs. Clean and lock up all tools daily.
Perform quality repairs on assigned repairs. Fix the vehicle right the first time! Make a quality check after each repair.
Perform all repairs in assigned work areas, unless otherwise instructed by the Group Leader.
Advise manager of any changes or deviations from the original repair instructions on the repair order.
Complete technician inspection thoroughly, when instructed. Advise ASM of needed repairs, including parts needs.
Attend required service training sessions or meetings. Share expertise with others as needed.
Maintain ASE certifications in a minimum of six (6) areas for skilled techs, and a minimum of two (2) areas for semi-skilled techs.
Maintain a neat, clean and orderly work area at all times. Assist in the cleanup of the team area each evening.
Clock on and off all repair orders as required.
Complete comprehensive documentation of cause / correction, specifications, and any other pertinent information needed to describe repair activities.
Respond to requests by manager for diagnosis of problems / customer needs.
Road test all repaired vehicles, regardless of items performed.
Complete all menu items as specifically listed on the menu. Don't shortcut maintenance items. Perform all items completely.
Perform PDI following the guidelines on the manufacturer's check sheets, including road test.
Maintain ability to use all company equipment and tools correctly, or seek assistance as needed.
Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with management, parts personnel and other technicians.
Education/Practical Experience Required:
Extensive experience or technical training preferred.

Pass drug screening
